Born Natasha Johnson, Constance grew up on Chicago’s South Side and gravitated towards singing as a way to express herself and create peace inside her day-to- day challenges. Once she discovered hip-hop and rap, the explosive energy and inventive beats inspired her to write her own words and music. Sparked by her own experiences and the challenges her surroundings and complex emotions, Constance started writing poetry. In high school,her peers encouraged her to start putting her poems and raps to music. She learned to trust her instincts and found her voice in the studio and learned about the intricacies of recording and production. Determined to embark on a new path, she came up with the name Constance as a tribute to her relentless drive to come up with hot lyrics and innovative musical concepts.
