Section 7 is a new age hip-hop group that is aiming at something different. Since there first Single release of Signs, they have been pushing the boundaries of what industry standard rap practices are. Signs placed over 97 thousand plays in a couple of months and kept that 90’s boom bap bounce alive and well. It showed that you didn’t need a powerful 808 to make a point. Following the success of signs Section 7 released Solo a song that struck a cord with many followers. Solo is not only a song about mental health but it’s also about hope and remembering that you are not alone. Following Solo Section 7 released bumclappin’ a song that was meant for having fun and breaking the boundaries of boom bap with a complete different style of drum play.
With a tape releasing June 21st, we are all very curious as to what Section 7 has to offer. Could this be the revival of boom bap? Or is this something completely different?
